Sense
Rugby
Wanting a fun, safe and inclusive sports program that is designed for children with sensory sensitivities? Fully NDIS supported, Sense Rugby will be starting in Term 1, 2025 running one afternoon a week as a team sports program designed to offer children the chance to take part in a fun, inclusive and safe sports program.
Sense Rugby offers a unique and supportive environment where children can develop essential skills through movement and play. This program is designed to help kids enhance their focus and attention while participating in group activities. By engaging with peers in a structured setting, children not only build their social skills but also learn to connect with others, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
A key component of Sense Rugby is its emphasis on emotional regulation. The program incorporates frequent co-regulation modelling by a qualified occupational therapist, allied health assistant, and dedicated volunteers. This approach helps children learn how to manage their emotions effectively, using sensory input from physical activities to support their overall regulation.
Through fun and movement-based activities, Sense Rugby provides the sensory experiences children need to regulate their bodies, which in turn supports their development of attention, emotional regulation, and social skills. The inclusive and community-focused nature of the program ensures that families feel welcomed and valued, making it a vibrant and engaging space for all involved.
