ASSISTING HAND ASSESSMENT
ASSESSMENT: 2 HR
At Beelieve Paediatric Therapy, we understand that every child is unique, and their journey to overcoming challenges is special. That's why we offer a specialised service designed to cater to the needs of children aged 18 months to 15 who are dealing with hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy or a brachial plexus injury.
Our Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA) is a comprehensive evaluation that focuses on improving hand function through functional play and observation.
Gold Coast Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA)
The Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA) is an evidence-based assessment specifically tailored to children facing the challenges of hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy or brachial plexus injuries.
This specialised evaluation is designed to observe your child's use of both hands during interactive and engaging activities through a gold standard assessment. By doing so, we can accurately identify the current level of function in the assisting hand and pinpoint areas that require targeted intervention to enhance hand use. Based on the Gold Coast, our Assisting Hand Assessments are personalised and recommended by our experienced Occupational Therapists who have a deep understanding of paediatric care. We are committed to helping your child achieve their fullest potential and improve their quality of life.
What to Expect from the Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA):
Observation and Assessment: The assessment process typically takes approximately 30 minutes, during which our skilled therapists will closely observe your child's hand movements and interactions. This does need to be video recorded for the integrity of the assessment.
Detailed Analysis: Following the assessment, we invest 1.5 hours in scoring and meticulously interpreting the results. This allows us to create a customised plan tailored to your child's unique needs and goals.
Comprehensive Report: You will receive an informative report summarising the assessment findings, the goals we've established for your child, and the recommended intervention strategies.
Family-Centred Approach: We believe in the power of collaboration and open communication. Our team will provide feedback and guidance to both your family and your child's therapist to ensure a seamless transition into the intervention phase.
Supporting Your Child's Journey: At Beelieve Paediatric Therapy, we go the extra mile to support your child's therapy journey. We provide the assessment and detailed reports to other therapy practices, ensuring that your child's progress is guided by standardised data and regular reviews.
Your child's hands hold incredible potential, and we're here to help them unlock it. Contact us today to schedule an Assisting Hand Assessment (AHA) and take the first step towards empowering your child to reach their full potential.
